The Amazing Story of a Humble Teacher

Who Created a Nation and Saved a Civilization

March 17 is St. Patrick’s Day, a holiday celebrated around the world.  In honor of St. Patrick, we will take a closer look at his life and legacy.  Behind the myth of St. Patrick lies the amazing story of a simple teacher with a profound sense of calling, a deep capacity to forgive, a bold courage to confront danger, a broad vision for education and a life-transforming lesson to teach.  Patrick was a humble teacher who transformed a wild and uncivilized people into a literate culture.  Because of his teaching and the schools he established, Ireland became a premier center of education in the medieval world.  Because of this one educator, Western civilization was saved.  We in Lithuania can learn many lessons from this great teacher.
